Wine Tasting event April 24th

Bon Appétit: French Wine Dinner, Friday, April 24
with Michael Pare of Capitol-Husting/Allstate Liquor and Wine

2007 Sterling Vintner’s Collection Chardonnay: $14
Classic in both style and structure, the 2007 Chardonnay offers the quintessential balance that defines a well-made Chardonnay. With bright, enticing aromas of tropical fruit, green apple and white flowers, the wine opens up into well-rounded flavors of melon, peach, and fig cupped by vanilla and spice. From beginning to end, the wine tantalizes the palate with the perfect poise of refreshing acidity and mouth-filling creaminess. An ideal pairing for summer fare – fresh fish thrown on the grill or pasta tossed with basil, chicken and vegetables.

2007 Wente Riverbank Riesling, Arroyo Seco and Monterey: $15
79% White Riesling, 19% Gewurztraminer, 2% Orange Muscat. This Riesling exhibits aromas of honeysuckle, lychee and fresh cut red apple, with a hint of nutmeg. The taste is crisp and fresh, delivering full, classic Riesling flavors of red apple and spice. The acid and the semi-sweetness are perfectly balanced for an excellent mouth feel. This intriguing wine is delightful as an aperitif or served with fruits and cheeses.

2007 Honig Sauvignon Blanc: $17
97.6% Sauvignon Blanc and 2.4% Semillon. A bright, fruit forward Sauvignon Blanc, with citrus aromas of grapefruit, lemongrass, and lime, overlaying passion fruit and mango characters. The vibrant tropical flavors linger, while the finish is crisp and refreshing.

2008 Montepellier Pinot Noir: $11
100% Pinot Noir from hillside vineyards throughout central California. A light-bodied red wine with bright cherry fruit on the bouquet. Tangy berry flavors delight your palate as lively acidity fives the wine some zest before a nice, balanced finish.

2006 Cosentino The Franc: $19
Predominantly Cabernet Franc with a touch of Merlot for softening. Black fruit, clove, allspice and vanilla in the nose. Youthful and intense with white pepper, red cherry and soft mineral overtones that carry through the mouth into a long finish. This full-bodied wine has long, ripe tannins with good structure and is excellently balanced. It should age well for the next 10-12 years.

2007 Sterling Vintner’s Collection Meritage: $14
52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 3% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot. Meritage, rhymes with "heritage", is a distinctly American way of labeling a wine as a Bordeaux style blend. In our Meritage you will find big flavors of blackberry jam, black cherry and chocolate accented by a spicy finish. These characteristics come from some of the best vineyards in the Central Coast appellation, where cool nights and sunny days lead to optimal ripeness and ultimately fruit forward, accessible wines.
