wine tasting friday march 30th

there will be another night of french cuisine march 30th in the form of a wine tasting
the meal will be similar to thursday dinner (in case you missed it) with pours of the complete wine list below (cost 30)

Bon Appétit: Wines from France, March 30, 2012
2010 Petit Roubie Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc #/bottles
100% Picpoul varietal. A golden colored white wine with brilliant pearly green reflections. The complex nose combines the dominant aroma of flowers with the scent of white peach and the exotic flavor of pineapples. Initially round and full the taste rapidly changes to lively. The nicely balanced acid-alcohol content brings out the fruity aromas. The long and full after-taste leaves suggestions of citrus and hard fruit.
One bottle: $16
12-bottle case (mix and match): $12

2010 Domaine l’Hortus La Bergerie de l’Hortus Blanc, Languedoc
70% Chardonnay and 30% Viognier. acacia and honeysuckle mingles with melon and nut oils while a hint of salt adds attraction to a persistent but relatively understated finish.
One bottle: $20
12-bottle case (mix and match): $15

2010 Fontanes Vin de Pays d’Oc, Languedoc
100% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines planted in 1970. The grapes are all hand harvested, and the fermentation is 100% natural, i.e. he does not use a commercial yeast strain rather the native yeast naturally occurring in the vineyard. The wine is aged only in stainless steel for 6-12 months.
One bottle: $20
12-bottle case (mix and match): $15

2010 Domaine Lafage Cote Sud, Roussilon
60% Syrah, 30% Grenache Noir, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, of which 50% is aged in oak barrels for 6 months. The intensity and length for the price are very impressive. Aromas of ripe tomato and smoked meats lead to a slightly chewy-textured, quite dense palate, mingling beef jerky, pungent herbs, and a sort of stone-licking undertone.
One bottle: $16
12-bottle case (mix and match): $12

2010 Chateau La Roque Mourvedre, Pic Saint Loup, Coteaux du Languedoc
90% Mourvèdre and 10% Grenache. The wine is aged in a combination of 350-liter Barriques and 600-liter demi-muids. intense, high-toned scents of cocoa, fennel, bay, black raspberry, purple plum, and beef blood. Viscous and glycerin-rich, it gravitates toward chocolate and black raspberry syrups tinged with vanilla and served over toast.
One bottle: $25
12-bottle case (mix and match): $20
